CBD and OCD

Here at NanoSoluble CBD, we are always excited when we come across research pertaining to the benefits of CBD-based products

Almost everyone on our team has some kind of connection to someone or directly knows someone with obsessive compulsive disorder – commonly known as OCD. The idea that our water-soluble CBD might be able to offer some relief to all of these people is incredibly rewarding.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

As the National Institute of Mental Health says, “Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a common, chronic, and long-lasting disorder in which a person has uncontrollable, reoccurring thoughts (obsessions) and/or behaviors (compulsions) that he or she feels the urge to repeat over and over.”

We all have our little quirks. Some people double check that they locked the doors. Other always check to make sure the stove is off before leaving the house – even if they haven’t been using it. OCD, which is considered an anxiety disorder, takes it to another level. Those who have been diagnosed typically devote at least an hour out of every day to whatever their obsession or compulsion might be.

The Research on CBD and OCD

Esther M. BlessingMaria M. SteenkampJorge Manzanares and Charles R. Marmar published a study on Cannabidiol as a Potential Treatment for Anxiety Disorders in the journal Neurotherapeutics. “We found that existing preclinical evidence strongly supports CBD as a treatment for generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive–compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder when administered acutely; however, few studies have investigated chronic CBD dosing,” they wrote.

“Likewise, evidence from human studies supports an anxiolytic role of CBD, but is currently limited to acute dosing, also with few studies in clinical populations. Overall, current evidence indicates CBD has considerable potential as a treatment for multiple anxiety disorders, with need for further study of chronic and therapeutic effects in relevant clinical populations.”

If you have OCD or know someone and think the CBD-based products might be helpful, we encourage you to try a water-soluble CBD. Water solubility makes CBD more effective because it is more easily absorbed by the body.
